MSM to close its free clothing center
The staff of Main Street Ministries wishes to thank the people of Hillsboro and neighboring communities for making our free clothing center a blessing to those in need.
At this time there is an even greater need for shelter. By closing the door to the clothing center, we open a window of oppor- tunity for more emergency housing for families.
The MSM program still includes Lord’s Storehouse Food Bank open 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Please visit the local Et Cetera Shop for future clothing needs.

Bad policy adds to horrible accidentMy name is Theresa Kasten, mother of 17-year-old Seth Biehler, who was a backseat passenger in a truck that was involved in a head-on collision just south of Herington on U.S. Highway 56/77 at about 11:45 a.m. Aug. 10.
At 11:49 that morning I received a call from Seth telling me what had happened. He said he thought everybody in their truck was OK but there was a car with children in it, and they were not. I asked if he called 911 and he stated he had.
I immediately left work and headed out there. When I arrived a few minutes later, I was horrified by what I saw. There were several people there already, passersby and a few people from a nearby home. They were all attempting to help in a very...

Vote Wiziarde forMcPherson Co. deeds
As a Republican and retired clerk of the District Court of McPherson County, I would like to voice my opinion about the register of deeds race.
Not only have I known Laurie (Baird) Wiziarde and her family for many years, I also had the chance to have Laurie work in my office. I personally know the spirit and integrity with which she performs her job. She really feels a responsibility to give the best service possible.
I was saddened to see her leave my office and go to the register of deeds office 14 years ago, but I knew it was the best move for her at the time, just as I know it is the right move to make Laurie B. Wiziarde our next McPherson County register of deeds.
Please join me in the Aug...

Brookens endorses Lindahl for 70th seatI support Doug Lindahl in his bid for 70th District state representative. We have an opportunity to elect a highly effective public servant to this post.
Doug Lindahl served five terms as a school board member in the Chapman district; that’s 20 years of willingly serving without pay—and his neighbors returned him to office again and again.
Mr. Lindahl also serves on the rural electric board for DS&O Electric Cooperative, yet another place where the people who know him best put him in an office. They trust his judgment.
Through his school board experience, Doug Lindahl is familiar with the budgeting process, and has worked to assure a good education for the kids of that rural district...
