It’s amazing to think that Hillsboro has hosted an arts and crafts festival every September for 40-plus years. More remarkable is that an association of volunteers developed a modest ambition to promote local artists into one of the top 100 arts and crafts extravaganzas in the entire country. We salute these folks—mostly women—who have invested themselves in countless hours of hard work through the decades to make it so.
But even that isn’t the whole story. Not only do we celebrate the tenacity of these organizers, we thank them for their commitment to the improvement of this town. Through these years, the Hillsboro Arts & Crafts Association has given back well over $153,000 to the community through countless projects and initiatives that have made this city a better place to live. Thank you, and may your vision live on for years to come. —DR
