We congratulate Hillsboro High School’s Sandy Arnold for being named the Kansas volleyball coach of the year by the National Federation of Coaches Association. Arnold received her award at a halftime presentation during last week’s sub-state basketball tournament. The award encompasses all classifications in Kansas, from 1A to 6A.
Arnold has compiled a 275-78 record in nine years at the Trojan helm. This past fall she and her team accomplished the difficult task of winning a second straight state championship.
Arnold deserves the honor based on her record alone, but those of us who know her applaud her for the way she leads her players, encouraging them to be the best they can be as individuals and as a team. She is the best. —DR
