Written by Don Ratzlaff Tuesday, 18 December 2007 19:50Once more we citizens of Marion County owe a huge debt of gratitude to the utility crews and emergency responders who gave so much time and energy to help our communities recover from power outages during last week’s ice storm. True, they were compensated for their efforts, but working long hours in cold weather and away from family and friends is a less than desireable gig.
It’s hard to believe the ice storm of 2005, similar to this one in so many ways, occurred almost three years ago. But we remember the sacrifices our civil servants made then on our behalf, and we are equally appreciative now. We trust that all county residents still without power will join our chorus of praise once the job is completed. —DR
