Local artists exhibit work at public library during May

An exhibit showcasing local artists is on display at Hillsboro Public Library, 120 E. Grand Ave., throughout the month of May.The artists are from Letty Enns’ painting group who used the media of pencil, oil and watercolor.
Artists featured include Geneva Becker, Doris Guhr, Billy Kuesser, Joan Heinrichs, Sheila Nuss, Teresa Rammers, Regina Ogle, Pam Riesen, Shirley Reusser and Letty Enns.
The library is open Mondays from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Tuesdays through Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 5...

Tai Chi class coming May 29 to Hillsboro

The Marion County Department on Aging is offering an eight-week Tai Chi class from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday starting May 29.
The class will meet in the basement youth room at Trinity Mennonite Church, 211 Elm St., Hillsboro. Those attending should use the door on the west side of the church. The cost of the class is $8 for eight weeks.
The class is for individuals who want to improve their strength and balance or have arthritis. The instructor will teach the basic six, the next six advanced and the final six forms.

18 students perform in recital

Eighteen piano students of Beverly Richards presented a recital April 28 at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church, Hillsboro.
Performers included Ariana Armstrong, Keighlee Armstrong, Maleiah Bartel, Joshua Diener, Sarah Diener, Kelli Dyck, Quinton Hett, Claire Heyen, Mary Elena Heyen, Jenna Hinerman, Abby Kliewer, Lydia Kliewer, Grace Major, Charlie Major, Ellie Noble, Emma Noble, Eva Noble and Macy Priest.
Assisting the duets were Tammy Armstrong, Jennifer Bartel, Glen Diener, Gail Dyck, Bruce and Claire Heyen, Tamera Hinerman and Richards.
HPD to receive new protection vests through national organization

Vested Interest in K9’s, Inc., is the non-profit organization and charity partner selected by Groupon Grassroots to participate. The online $10 donation suggested interested persons purchase a GROUPON (a tax deductible donation) through the secure website where all funds were allocated to purchase ballistic vests for our four-legged crime fighters who put their lives on the line for the community and their partner.

Marion City Library book, plant sale set

Marion City Library received a shipment of hanging flower baskets at a cost of $15.
In addition, the library’s book sale continues this week with cookbooks, children’s books, non-fiction and fiction, videos, audio-cassettes.
All books are being sold by donation.
