Goessel Elementary School has been identified as a Title I Reward School by the Kansas Department of Education.
As such, GES is among the top 10 percent of Title I schools through the Elementary and Secondary Education Act Flexibility Waiver.
The achievement is for academic performance based on the past four years of combined state reading and math assessments.
“We are excited to receive the outstanding award and acknowledge the hard work of all of our staff and students in achieving this distinction,” said John Fast, Goessel superintendent.
Title I is a federally funded program that provides supplemental support to students in high-poverty schools.
According to the KSDE, the purpose of Title I is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic standards.
