Refreshing rain

What a difference rain made this weekend in the scenery and psyche of the area. The top photo of the city pond at Memorial Park in Hillsboro appeared on the front page of our Aug. 15 issue; the one bellow it was taken Saturday afternoon.The Corps of Engineers office at Marion Reservoir recorded 2.11 inches of rain from Thursday through Saturday, with a peak of 1.30 inches on Friday. The rain, while refreshing, won’t come close to ending the effect of this summer’s drought, according to experts.
