Edy Jost of the 4 Branded Chicks team prevents the wrong calf from crossing the line during the sorting event at the Women's Ranch Rodeo on Saturday evening. Other members of the team are Jessi Schroder, Jane Barker and Tara Burns. They earned second place in the sorting competition.

The annual women’s ranch rodeo offered a Marion County Fair foretaste of fun Saturday at the fairgrounds.
Seven area teams competed in up to five events: branding, trailer loading, doctoring, sorting and tie down. The county fair officially begins at 6:30 p.m. today with the annual parade down Main Street in Hillsboro. A video of the parade will be posted at hillsborofreepress.com.
