Rainy weather and cooler temperatures could have contributed to fewer children participating at Saturday’s Easter Egg Hunt in Memorial Park.
Hillsboro Kiwanis Club member Clint Seibel said volunteers put together 240 baskets prior to the hunt, which is about the same number they did last year.
Even though more people were in the park, the ratio was unusual.
“It seemed like we had seven adults for every two children,” he said, adding that Easter is a good time for families to visit.
The kids were divided into three age groups: 0 to 3, 4 to 6, and 7 to 10.
“Some years we had to make up more baskets,” Seibel said, “but this year looks like we will have leftovers.”
In addition to the Kiwanis Club sponsoring the annual event, businesses in town contribute money toward filling the baskets with candy.
The Easter Bunny made an appearance and was available for pictures with children.
