RIGHT: Durham Mayor Mike Sorensen (foreground, at right) was one of more than 75 people enjoying a community Christmas party Saturday at the Durham Community Center. “It’s a great way to get everyone together,” he said. Some of the younger party guests included Mosharay Smith, 12, who said she would like a guitar and remote-control Monster Truck for Christmas. Hanne McDermott, 3, said she wants a little pink gun. The event was sponsored by the Durham Community Activity Fund, which holds about four events during the year, according to Debi Owens, a board member.
FAR RIGHT: Lynn and Gary Penner of Hillsboro and their horse tram were part of the festivities in Durham Saturday at the annual Christmas party. Even with temperatures dipping into the teens, many attending the event said they enjoyed the tram ride before going into the Community Center for warm refreshments, hot dogs and fellowship..
