Tabor baseball splits games with Owls

Tabor baseball team split a doubleheader with William Woods University (Mo.) Saturday, dropping the first game 9-3 but recording a 7-1 victory in Game 2 for a 5-3 season record.

The Owls jumped to an early 4-0 lead in first inning of Game 1. Tabor scored one run in the third, fourth and sixth innings to narrow the gap to 6-3 going into the seventh inning.

William Woods, however, scored three runs in the seventh to claim the six-point victory.

TC tennis opens season

Tabor College opened the 2013 tennis season Feb. 16 at Newman University, where both the men and women lost to the host team.

The men lost 6-3, with Tabor’s three wins coming in No. 1 singles, No. 3 singles and No. 3 doubles.

David Simmet earned a victory in No. 1 singles after his scheduled opponent, Nei Pos Santos, withdrew from competition with an arm injury.

Nate Panttaja defeated Jared Ferris 8-5 in No. 3 singles, and Sam Brucks and Jake Brucks earned a 9-7 victory over Jeff...

Six Bluejays earn KCAC recognition

Three members of the Tabor men’s basketball team and three from the women’s team have received recognition from the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.

MEN—Three Bluejays received honors: senior forward Ryan Chippeaux, junior guard Robbie Samuel and freshman guard/forward Brent Jackson.

Chippeaux was a unanimous All-KCAC First Team selection and was named to the All-KCAC Defensive Team. He also was a first-team selection last year.

The Wichita native averaged 12.86 points per game...
