Tabor softball gains first two KCAC wins

Sterling—Tabor picked up two wins at Sterling (2-4, 14-14) Saturday.

“We fought the whole time and didn’t give up,” coach Suzanne Unruh said. “Our bats came alive on Saturday, finally.

“I was pleased with our offense.”

Tabor defeated the Warriors 11-9 in Game 1.

Sterling claimed a 4-1 lead after two innings and led 6-4 after four. But the Bluejays outscored Sterling 6-1 in the next two innings to take the lead for good.

Post garners wins at Hutch Night Relays

The Tabor track and field teams found success Saturday competing at the Hutchinson Night Relays.

“Warm weather plus light winds usually equal good days on the track and in the field,” coach Dave Kroeker said. “This surely held true for both the Tabor men and women.”

The Tabor women were led by senior Emily Post—KCAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, who swept the triple jump (39 feet, 4.5 inches, new school record), long jump (18-8) and high jump (5-7.25, new school record)...

TC tennis 2-2 for the week, takes Friends

The Tabor tennis teams split their games last week, with two losses to Baker University Tuesday followed by a sweep of Friends University Saturday.

Friends—The Bluejays opened conference play with two victories Saturday.

The men defeated Friends 8-1 to improve to 1-0 in the KCAC, 3-6 overall.

David Simmet and Nate Panttaja dropped an 8-3 contest to Eric Berner and Patrick Trollman in No. 1 doubles, but Kelyn Vix and Tyler Dort picked up an 8-1 win over Blake Stuckey and Zack Stein in the...

Tabor baseball riding 10-game win streak

TCbsbKWCoronahomer2 Art Corona, Tabor’s lead-off hitter, celebrates a home run to open the bottom of the first inning in Tabor’s 9-1 home win against Kansas Wesleyan Thursday. The Tabor Bluejay baseball team is on a 10-game winning streak, aided by a four-game sweep of KCAC foe Kansas Wesleyan (5-11, 16-17) last week.

Kansas Wesleyan—With two wins against the Coyotes already under their belt, the Bluejays traveled to Salina Saturday for a second doubleheader, where the outcome remained the same.

Tabor picked up a 6-5 win in Game 1 and followed with an 11-0 shutout in Game 2.

Tabor softball loses first KCAC games

The Tabor College softball team went 0 for 4 in its first week of conference play, losing doubleheaders to Kansas Wesleyan and Bethany for a 5-17 season record.

Kansas Wesleyan—The Bluejays, playing at home, lost to the Coyotes (4-0, 21-4) Saturday, 9-1 and 10-3.

In Game 1, Kansas Wesleyan jumped to a 5-0 lead after two innings. By the time Tabor’s Kyleen Condon hit a home run in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Coyotes had already accumulated nine runs.
