Goessel High School senior Trey Schmidt signed a letter of intent Wednesday to play football next year at Tabor College. The quarterback/defensive back was a first-team all-league selection in 2011 and 2012. In his senior season, Schmidt recorded 1,757 passing yards (38 touchdowns) and 722 rushing yards (13 touchdowns). He had 132 tackles last season. The Marion softball team took part in only one of two scheduled doubleheaders last week as the Canton-Galva games slated for Tuesday were postponed because of weather.The Warriors did see action Friday, traveling to Clay Center for two non-league games.
