Tabor tennis concludes regular season

Tabor faced three conference opponents last week to wrap up the regular season.

The men hold a 4-3 KCAC record (6-9 overall) for fourth place, while the women are fifth at 3-4 (5-9 overall).

Ottawa—After facing Bethany earlier in the day Saturday, Tabor played a rescheduled game against Ottawa at home. Both the men and the women came back from earlier losses to sweep the Braves.

Tabor softball wins four straight games

Weather again interfered with the Tabor softball team’s schedule, as Wednesday’s doubleheader against the University of Saint Mary was first moved to Friday and finally to Sunday.

In between, Tabor hosted Southwestern Saturday.

Despite the weather, the Bluejays picked up four KCAC wins last week and improved to 10-6 in the conference and 16-22 overall.

TC track teams earn 14 gold medals at home invitational

>Emily Post cleared 5 feet, 5 inches to win the high jump at the Tabor Invitational Friday. Post swept all three jumping events with gold medals and was named KCAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. The Tabor track and field team had a full schedule last week with performances at the KU Relays and at the Bluejays’ home invitational.

Tabor Invitational—Fourteen Bluejay events earned first place Friday.

The women enjoyed eight gold medals: Makenzie King in the 400 (1:03.05), Ashley Kemling in the 800 (2:30.37), Kristen Harris in the 400 hurdles (1:07.15, best in the KCAC), Emily Post—named KCAC Field Athlete of the Week—in the high jump (5 feet, 5 inches), long jump (16-1.5)...

Tabor baseball team splits with Sterling

Tabor’s starter, Matt Lambert, throws a pitch in Game 2 against Sterling Saturday. The Bluejays lost that game, 6-4, and went on to split the series with the KCAC-leading Warriors to remain in second place in the conference. The Tabor baseball team remained one game behind KCAC leader Sterling after splitting two doubleheaders with the Warriors last week.

“It was an outstanding series,” coach Mark Standiford said. “Sterling is a very good team, and both teams played well. I am disappointed in the split; we were hoping to take three of four. So now we do not control our destiny.”

Morris signs for Sterling College hoops

Christina Morris signed a letter of intent Thursday to play basketball next year for Sterling College. The Hillsboro High School senior worked her way into the starting lineup about midway through the Trojans’ 23-3 season and third-place finish in the Class 3A state tournament. The 5-foot-8 post player averaged 2.42 points and 2.77 rebounds in just over 14 minutes per game.
