TC Recruits to add Kansas emphasis

With the start of training camp less than a month away, Tabor College head football coach Mike Gottsch is pleased with the off-season recruiting he and his staff have accomplished so far.

“If the head coach is looking at the problem the right way, you have to try to sign every spot again, and every year you’ll have the same needs,” he said.

With 33 recruits, Gottsch is confident that the team’s depth has increased in nearly every area.

TC adds two for track and tennis

Two in-state athletes have signed letters to run for Tabor College this next year.

Brock Fosnight is a 6-foot-3, 150-pound runner from Goddard High School who posted times of 54.6 seconds in the 400 meters and 2:10.5 in the 800. He also ran with 4x400 and 4x800m relay teams for the Ark Valley League Division II league champions in 2006.

“He will help us in the 400 meters and 800 meters,” said Dave Kroeker, head track coach. “He will also be a great asset to our campus.”

Newhard TC named baseball coach

Chad Newhard has been hired as head baseball coach at Tabor College. Newhard will also serve as an instructor in physical education.

Newhard brings eight years of college coaching experience to Tabor.

He spent the past three years as assistant baseball coach and recruiting coordinator at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (Ind.), a Division I NCAA program.

Gottsch signs five more athletes for Tabor

The Tabor College has signed five more athletes for its football program.

Timothy Sheppard of Houston, Texas, is a 6-feet, 200-pound linebacker who played for Madison High School, which posted a 14-1 record and qualified for the state semifinals.

“Timothy will be competing at an outside linebacker position,” Bluejays coach Mike Gottsch said.

“He will bring an upbeat attitude and a very solid work ethic.”
