Bluejay softball team goes 1-4 for week

The Tabor College softball team recorded one win and four losses last week to hold a 2-9 record for the season.

Saint Gregory’s—After dropping a 12-4 loss to the 16th-ranked Cavaliers the previous weekend, the Bluejays faced Saint Gregory’s in a doubleheader Wednesday, dropping both games 5-0, 8-2.

Neither team scored the first four innings of Game 1, but a late burst by the Cavaliers resulted in three runs in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth for the 5-0 victory.

TC tennis sweeps Central Christian

Both Tabor tennis teams earned their first victories of the season with a sweep of Cen­tral Christian College Wednes­day. The women defeated the Tigers 9-0, while the men won 6-3.

“The teams got off to a great start by sweeping the doubles matches,” coach John Ruder said.

Women—The Bluejays won in convincing fashion, beginning with three victories in doubles.

In No. 1 doubles, Becky Faber and Anna Friesen defeated Kristen Reith and Tori McCord, 8-2.

Bluejay baseball drops 5-4 game

Out of four scheduled games last week, the Tabor baseball team played only one.

That 10-inning nail-biter at Oklahoma Christian University saw the Bluejays on the short end of 5-4 score Monday.

Tabor led 4-1 after the first inning, but it proved to be the Bluejays’ only points of the night.

The Eagles, meanwhile, tied the game at 4 at the end of nine innings, forcing the extra inning and scoring the winning run in the 10th.

TC men’s basketball program receives gift

Tabor College has received PepsiCo stock valued in excess of $1 million to enhance the men’s basketball program.

The gift, donated by 1962 Tabor alum Floyd E. Bergen, was given in honor of former Bluejay basketball coach Del Reimer, who led the program from 1957 to 1970 and served a total of 30 years at the college.
