Ben Brown returns to Tabor, aims again for NFL

BenBrowncmykP5010004 When Ben Brown first stepped on Tabor’s campus almost nine years ago, it was a huge leap of faith.

At the time, Brown had been living with his wife and daughter in a small apartment in Los Banos, Calif., with no furniture. He soon realized this was not the life he wanted.

Striving to make a better life for him and his family, Brown decided to follow his dreams and return to school to play football. He chose Tabor College.

TC men's bowling team ninth at Indy

The Tabor men’s bowling team placed ninth in a field of 24 at the NAIA Invitational in Indianapolis Friday and Saturday.

Competing for Tabor were Austin Jones, Daniel Brodell, Kyle Smith, Troy Berneburg, Hunter Harty and Tyler Hardin.

After bowling 20 qualifying games Friday, the Bluejays qualified 20th.

“We didn't bowl well at all,” coach Todd Zenner said. “(We) never got into a rhythm as a team.”

Tabor dropped its first match against Martin Baptist 3-0.

Hiebert signs for volleyball at Hesston

Goessel High School senior Alex Hiebert has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball this fall at Hesston College. The 5-foot, 10-inch middle hitter was an all-league and honorable mention all-state athlete in 2012. Sitting with her are parents Mike Hiebert and Lucinda Hiebert. TC softball 3-4 last week

The Tabor softball team went 3-4 last week for a 5-13 season record.

Saint Mary—The Bluejays split their home doubleheader against College of Saint Mary Thursday, first dropping a 9-5 contest, then posting a 12-5 win.

“I felt we should have came out and swept (Saint Mary) at our place,” coach Suzanne Unruh said. “But we just couldn’t get it done.”

Tabor begins outdoor track and field season

The Tabor track and field team opened the outdoor season Thursday at the Southwestern Invitational in Winfield.

“Both men’s and women’s teams had good first-meet-of-the-year days,” coach Dave Kroeker said. “A number of personal records were set on the track and in the field.”

Women—Leading the way for Tabor was senior Emily Post, who qualified for the NAIA Outdoor National Championship in both triple jump and high jump.
