TC track competes at Emporia State

The Tabor track and field teams took part in the Emporia State University Invitational Saturday, where their competitors included athletes from schools such as Kansas, Kansas State and Emporia State.

“Overall, I was pleased with the performances of both the men’s and women’s teams in the meet,” coach Dave Kroeker said. “The meet after spring break—and not competing last week—always is a little tough to get back into competition mode, but we did that fairly well.”

TC baseball takes four from Ottawa

TCBsBOttawaReid Shaun Reid slides into second in an attempted double but was called out. The Bluejays won 5-0 in Game 1 of Tabor’s sweep of Ottawa. The Tabor College baseball team swept its four-game series with Ottawa last week to improve to 9-1 in the KCAC and 18-8 overall.

The Bluejays opened with a 5-0 victory in Game 1 Thursday at home. Kevin Seeger knocked out two hits in three at-bats, including a double. Seeger also had two RBIs.

Grant Silva recorded two hits and one run in three at-bats and also had two RBIs.

Keenan Chanin added one hit and scored a run in two at-bats, while Shaun Reid recorded one hit and one RBI.

Bluejay tennis teams top Hesston

TCtenHesstonLYFriesen2doubles Karly Lindroth-Yates returns volley at the net during the Tabor women’s No. 2 doubles match against Hesston Thursday. Lindroth-Yates and Anna Friesen won, 8-6, on a day when all Bluejay doubles teams, both men’s and women’s, defeated their opponents. Following a spring break trip to Texas, the Tabor tennis teams returned home victorious, with both the men and women winning Thursday’s home contests against Hesston.

Hesston—Tabor swept Hesston Thursday, with the women winning 8-1 victory and the men, 7-2.

Three TC athletes earn NAIA honors

Rust Janelle Rust Three Tabor College basketball players have earned NAIA All-American honors: Janelle Rust, Nikki Lewis and Ryan Chip­peaux.

Junior forward Janelle Rust earned recognition as a Third Team All-American. Although she missed the last quarter of the season with an ACL injury, Rust led the KCAC in scoring at 15.38 points per game.

She also led the conference in field goal percentage (46.2) and three-point percentage (42.9), the latter placing her sixth in NAIA Division II.

TC baseball splits games with Saint Mary

TCBsBMacStone The Tabor baseball team recorded a 1-3 record over spring break, dropping two non-conference games early in the week, then splitting two games with the University of Saint Mary Wednesday.

Saint Mary—Tabor defeated the Spires 2-0 in Game 1, but fell 3-0 in Game 2.

In the first game, Tabor’s starting pitcher, Josh Stone, pitched seven scoreless innings to propel the Bluejays to victory.
