Kansans will caucus options for president

Kansas and Marion County voters will have a chance to add their collective voices to the presidential selection process when state Democrats and Republi­cans hold political caucuses during the first full week of February.

State Democrats will be part of the “Super Tuesday” collection of state primaries and caucuses on Feb. 5 while Kansas Republicans will gather Feb. 9 to indicate their preferences for a candidate on the GOP side.

Whether as the elected representative for District 70, or in his expanded role as speaker pro tem for the Kansas House of Representatives, Don Dahl is anticipating the start of the next legislative session Jan. 14 with some dread.

Impact fund reaches goal

The goal has been reached.

Hillsboro Community Foundation announced Friday that upon the closing of its Hillsboro Area Impact Fund capital campaign on Dec. 31, pledges and contributions totaled more than $265,000, exceeding the goal of $250,000.

“This is the result of what a great community is made of,” said HCF chairman Mike Kleiber in a memo to foundation board members announcing the successful completion of the campaign.
