Sheriff Rob Craft told Marion County commissioners Monday that he isaware of about 20 citizens who have asked to be on a jail planningcommittee that could recommend a new or updated building.He toldthe commissioners he would be ready to close the application processFriday, and be ready next Monday to go over names with them to narrowthe committee to about a dozen members.

City leaders and staff from Marion and Hillsboro heard Thursday that there is a silver lining to the gloomy discovery of zebra mussels in Marion Reservoir last summer.Because the discovery came early in the infestation stage, the two cities have had more time than most cities to prepare for the exponential growth of the invaders that will threaten their water-treatment systems.
