When the Lehigh Fire Department successfully knocked down a fire in the early stages in a residential storage building Thursday evening, you might chalk it up to great timing.

A picture-perfect weekend contributed to a picture-perfect 40th Kansas Mennonite Relief Sale with early sales equaling $406,500 at the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson.

Incumbents win local re-election

election.jpg election.jpg Byron McCarty retained his seat on the Hillsboro City Council by a 132-16 margin over challenger Martin Rhodes in the local elections April 1.

McCarty represents the East Ward.

Shelby Dirks, incumbent from the West Ward, received 68 votes. He was unopposed.
