Florence Chess Club to meet Jan. 12
The Florence Chess Club will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 12, at 726 Marion St., Florence (the old Catholic School).

Huelskamp to stop in Hillsboro Jan. 9
Marion County is included among the first round of stops for Kansas First District Congressman Tim Huelskamp’s town hall meetings.
Huelskamp, recently sworn in for his second term to the U.S. House of Representatives, will meet with constituents from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at the Hillsboro Civic Center, 118 E. Grand.
In the 112th Congress, Huelskamp represented 69 counties; following the decennial redistricting, Huelskamp will represent 65 of the state’s 105 counties.
During his first two-year term, Huelskamp hosted 140 town hall meetings. Other stops in his first round of visits this term will be in Lyon, Chase and Dickinson counties.

CKRSWA meeting planned for Jan. 16
The Central Kansas Regional Solid Waste Authority will have its quarterly meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the McPherson County Transfer Station, 1431 17th Ave., McPherson.
TEEN board plans Jan. 16 meeting
The Technology Excellence in Education Network will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the Marion District Office, 101 N. Thorp.

Signup under way for Storytime
Children age 3 years through kindergarten can sign up for the next session of Storytime at the Hillsboro Public Library.
Storytime is a 40-minute class where children read books and enjoy activities and crafts led by children’s librarian Delora Kaufman. Classes begin Jan. 16 or 17. Classes are offered from 10:20 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday or Thursday; the registration fee for the entire session is payable by the first class.
