Katherine Nickel Hiebert Schmidt Penner is celebrating her 100th birthday with a come and go reception from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, in the dining room of Parkside Home.
She was born Sept. 9, 1912, in Washita County, near Clinton, Okla. On April 2, 1938, she was married to Dan Hiebert. They farmed west of Hillsboro. He predeceased her Feb. 28, 1957. She was then married to Harry Schmidt on Jan. 2, 1960, who also predeceased her May 26, 1966.
Her third husband was Paul Penner. They were married Feb. 14, 1976, and he predeceased her June 17, 1982.
Family members are inviting everyone to the event. Her children include sons Robert and Eddie Hiebert of Abilene, Paul and Marilynn Hiebert of Bridgeton, Mo., Charles Hiebert of Alexandria, Va., and Larry and Karen Penner of Newton; daughter Mary and Al Beck of Minot, ND; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
