Family film night begins June 1
The Hillsboro Convention and Visitors Bureau and Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church invite everyone to the first Friday family film night at 8:30 p.m. June 1 at Memorial Park.
The film, “Dolphin Tales,” is a story about a lonely boy and a dolphin whose tail was lost in a trap. Concessions will be available and everyone is encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs.

NAMI picnic in McPherson June 7
NAMI McPherson will have its annual picnic at 6 p.m. June 7 at Lakeside Park, Site 2.
Participants are asked to bring a side dish or dessert. Hot dogs and buns will be provided.

Consultant to talk June 20 in Marion
The Emporia State University Kansas Small Business Development Center will offer free small business consulting from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 20 in Marion.
The one-on-one consultations will be at Butler Community College-Marion Campus, 412 N. Second.
“Dean Claycamp of the Kansas Small Business Development Center will be here to meet with entrepreneurs and existing small business owners,” said Gwen Spade, senior administrative specialist with KSBDC.
For those who would like to discuss issues concerning an existing business or starting a new business, Spade said she encourages them to call.
The consulting services are free and confidential.
This is a community service partnership between ESU, Butler Community College, the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Kansas Department of Commerce.

Application night June 12 at daycare
Kids Connection, a nonprofit, non-denominational childcare facility and preschool, is hosting an application night from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. June 12 at 300 Prairie Pointe in Hillsboro.
The daycare/preschool applications are for the fall enrollment.
