Centre FFA auctions set for March 8The Annual Centre FFA Work Auction will be held Thursday, March 8 in the high-school gym.
The complimentary pork barbecue meal will begin at 6 p.m. and the auction at 7 p.m.
About 40 members are scheduled to be auctioned to chapter supporters. The proceeds will be used to help pay for the costs of the many activities we attend during the year.
Again this year, the alumni will host a silent auction to raise funds for senior scholarships.

PEO Chapter DB to meet March 5
The PEO Chapter DB will meet at 1:30 p.m. March 5 at Eastmoor United Methodist Church in Marion.
Anita Brookens will present "Buried Treasures." Election and installation of officers will also be held.
Peabody UMC open for Day of Prayer
The Peabody United Methodist Church sanctuary will be open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, March 2, for the World Day of Prayer, hosted by the United Methodist women.
The theme for this year is "United Under God's Tent," to encourage prayer for world unity and global aid for every adult and child made homeless or a refugee by war or natural disasters.
Handicap parking is available on the west side of the church.
Delta Kappa chapter to meet March 3
The Alpha Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Society International will meet March 3 at Butler Community College of Marion.
Hostesses will be Mary Regier and Terry Klenda.
Quilt guild to visit Parade of Quilts
The Country Stitchers Quilt Guild will go on its annual outing March 3 to the Parade of Quilts in Yoder.
The guild will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Hillsboro United Methodist Church to arrive around 10 a.m. and eat lunch at 11:30 a.m. at Carriage Crossings.
Amish carriage rides will be available for $4.50 per person.

Fun Night March 4 at Tampa Senior Ctr
Fun Night will be held at 7 p.m. March 4 at the Tampa Senior Center. Please bring a snack to share.
Tampa Community Association will have a short meeting at 6:30 p.m. Please bring the proof-of-purchase symbols that are being collected.

Newton couple wins eco-devo contest
John and Pat Dorsett of Newton are the winners of the Munchin' in Marion County contest, held by the Marion County Economic Development Council's tourism committee.
This contest was held from last October through the end of 2006, and participants were asked to send in restaurant receipts from four different towns in Marion County.
The Dorsetts won a choice of a night's stay for two at any bed and breakfast in Marion County.
Veterans service rep to visit March 6, 20
Veterans service representative Ken Morris of the Kansas Commission on Veterans' Affairs will visit the Marion County Health Department from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 6 and March 20.

Immunization clinic canceled March 7
The immunization clinic planned for March 7 at the Marion County Health Department has been canceled due to staff training.
MCSEC meeting moved to March 7
The Marion County Special Education Cooperative board of directors special meeting, originally scheduled for Feb. 28, has been moved to noon Wednesday, March 7, in the MCSEC conference room at 302 W. Eighth in Florence.

Walk Kansas is coming back to Marion County March 11 to May 5.
Gather up your team of up to six members for this eight-week fun and fitness activity.
Captain's packets can be picked up at the extension office in the courthouse annex. Registration deadline is March 8.

The Marion City Library's spring storytime session will be held from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Fridays from March 9 through April 27.

Free kids' screening March 13 in Marion
A free screening for infants through 5-year-old children will be held from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at the Marion Presbyterian Church.
The one-hour screening will assess development in the cognitive, social-emotional, motor and speech-language areas. Vision, hearing and nutrition will also be checked.
