Family volunteers from North Carolina were hard at work last week helping Plato Shepherd (foreground), pastor of the Cottonwood Valley Independent Baptist Church, renovate its new meetingplace. The young church recently acquired the building on the 100 block of C Street, which was originally built as a drive-in restaurant and most recently housed Bartel Insurance Agency. Shepherd said he expected more volunteers to arrive later in the week from North Carolina, where he originates. His assistants pictured here include his son and grandsons.
