Mennonite Men’s Chorus starts seasonThe Kansas Mennonite Men’s Chorus will begin its 44th concert season at 7 p.m. April 21 at Memorial Hall, 300 27th St., North Newton.
The second concert will be at 7 p.m. April 28 at Central Community Church, 6100 W. Maple St., Wichita. The final performance is a joint concert with the 90-voice Kansas City Metro Men’s Chorus at 4 p.m. June 9 at the Atonement Lutheran Church in Kansas City.
In addition to piano and organ accompaniments by Stephen Vincent of Hillsboro, as well as the Menno Brass, the North Newton and Wichita concerts will also feature the Bethel College Mennonite Church Chancel Bells, directed by Vada Snider.

‘First car’ will be April 21 faspa topicInterested people are invited to share their story of “My First Car” at the Sunday-Afternoon-Faspa-at-the-Museum April 21 at Mennonite Heritage & Agricultural Museum in Goessel.
The event will begin at 3 p.m. with an informal story-telling session. Faspa will be served at 4 p.m.
This event, free and open to the public, will be in the museum’s Preparatory School building.

Expert to speak on antique glasswareDonavon Schmidt, rural Newton, will speak about and show antique glassware during the Friday, April 5, session of Lifelong Learning.
The session will begin at 9:45 a.m. in the Wohlgemuth Music Education Center on the Tabor College campus.
Schmidt invites those who have their own collection to bring a piece to hear his personal comments.
Donavon and wife Deloris operated DonDel Antiques at Walton. He is serving as chairman of the board of directors at the Mennonite Heritage & Agricultural Museum, Goessel.

Hillsboro Easter egg hunt is SaturdayThe Hillsboro Kiwanis Club is sponsoring its annual Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at Memorial Park.
Organizers are encouraging participants to bring a camera and have pictures taken with the Easter Bunny.
Hymn sing planned for Easter evening
A community hymn sing is planned for 7 p.m. Easter, at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church, 300 Prairie Pointe.
The evening will include singing, prayer and Scripture reading. Participants will have an opportunity to select favorite hymns.
Steve Vincent will lead the evening, which has the theme, “Easter Is Only the Beginning.” Vocal music will be provided by Parkside Voices and soloist Glenn Litke.

Lakin Oelke
Phil and Debbie Oelke of Hillsboro announce the adoption of their daughter, Lakin Alynne Oelke, from Guangzhou, China.
Lakin Alynne was 12 months old when she was adopted.
She was born Feb. 27, 2012, at Fengxin County, Jiangxi Province, China.
Welcoming her home were her two brothers, Nate, 4, and Beckett, 1.
Maternal grandparents are Tom and Miriam Krause of Overland Park.
Paternal grandparents are Frank and Joan Oelke of Osborne.
