Soyez, Peterson exchange vows
Rebecca Lee Soyez and Scott Lee Peterson, both of Marion, were married at 5 p.m. June 11 in a double-ring ceremony.
The wedding took place at Wayne and Linda Friesen’s home in Hillsboro, parents of the bride, and was officiated by Laney Kuhn, friend of the couple. Parents of the groom are Bonnie Peterson of Hico, Texas, and Carl Peterson of Council Grove.
The Friesen’s backyard was decorated with a heart-shaped arch, green ferns and gerber daisies.
The bride’s dress was a white satin halter dress embellished with crystals and beads on the neckline. Her bouquet included yellow gerber daisies, white spider mums and crystal beads.
Her maid of honor was Carissa Thiessen, sister of the bride. The junior bridesmaid was Emma Soyez, daughter of the couple.
The groom’s best man was Dale Peterson and his groomsman was Matt Peterson, both brothers of the groom.
The couple’s flower girl was Brooklyn Thiessen, niece of the bride, and gift carrier was Jacob Thiessen, nephew of the bride.
Tripp Soyez, son of the couple, was ringbearer.
A reception took place at 7:30 p.m. at Marion Community Center, with Alfred and Ann Monares of Newton serving as host and hostess.
Kathy Rector and Gayleen Rocker, aunts of the bride, served cake at the reception.
The bride is a graduate of Hillsboro High School and is employed as a teacher’s aide at USD 408 Marion-Florence School District.
The groom is a graduate of Marion High School and is employed as a rancher.
The couple went on an Alaskan cruise for their honeymoon and are at home in rural Marion.
In lieu of a rehearsal dinner, a Sunday brunch, hosted by Bonnie Peterson, mother of the groom, was held at the Elgin Hotel in Marion.
