hillsboro senior center

Footcare, provided by Greenhaw Wellness, is Nov. 17 and Haris Zafar is at the center at 11:15 a.m. Nov. 18.

With the holidays coming, it?s a great time to think about buying senior center meal tickets for family and friends. We want to thank everyone who helps support our center and also Barkman Honey for matching $2 for every $1 raised up to $50,000. Donations are what keep the center operating and pay the expenses, which are about $3,000 a month. If anyone can volunteer as a substitute Meals on Wheels driver, please call us. Also, if anyone has a program they would like to present or if someone has and idea, let us know.

For more information or to make reservations, call 620-947-2304 or stop by 212 N. Main St. between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

November and the end of year are getting closer with many activities planned at the center. Be sure to mark down dates.

The last day to bake peppernuts is Nov. 12. As a way to thank all of those who helped, we are having a cookie party. Be sure to stay after baking and have a cookie and coffee. Friday, Nov. 13 is ?Share a Kind Act? day. Make a reservation and come with an idea of a kind act you have or will do. It will be interesting to know what people thought of as a way to be kind to one another or a stranger.

The Thanksgiving meal is Nov. 17, complete with turkey, dressing and pie.

Shane Marler will also provide entertainment. He plays piano, guitar, and sings. Our make-up meal of chili and cinnamon rolls is Wednesday, Nov. 18, to cover the day after Thanksgiving when we are closed. This is not a fundraiser and reservations should be made.

The board meeting is at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16. The Senior Citizens of Marion County meeting is Nov. 20 in Marion and our business meeting is Nov. 24.

Susan Walker, a licensed massage therapist, is here Nov. 23 as our guest speaker. She will talk about the advantages of therapy and give chair massage demonstrations. Reservations for that day are needed in order to be included for lunch and a massage. Brunch is at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 25 with biscuits, sausage gravy, blueberry coffee cake or a cinnamon roll are on the menu. This is a fun agenda and we would like others to share it.

As always we look forward to seeing you at 106 N. Walnut St. or having you call us for reservations.
