Marion senior center

We?ve had the beginnings of garden goodies coming in. One day when cucumbers arrived one of the women asked if they were ?breakfast? cucumbers.

This created a lot of interest in the unusual vegetable. Later, we learned that the word was ?burp-less? instead of ?breakfast.?

Rowena Olsen celebrated her birthday with us July 29, providing ice cream cups.

Frankie Turner brought in two framed paintings she had done to display on our easels.

Lanell Hett gave a presentation about the transportation service offered at the senior center. There are two vans available.

To arrange out-of-town trips, call Lanell at 620-382-3580. For appointments in Marion, call Janet at 620-382-2942. The local service is FISH, which is an acronym for Friends I Should Help.

Come join us for lunch Aug. 18 in recognition of Senior Center Day. There will be a program after the meal.

Remember our monthly menu is on the local cable channel two.

For more information or to make a lunch reservation, due by 9 a.m. the day of the meal, call 620-382-2942 or stop by the center, 309 S. Third St.
