Come and enjoy Jack Hobbs from Schowalter Villa Tuesday, Feb. 5. He will be sharing his antique tractors with us.
We will also have cards and dominoes Feb. 6 after the noon meal, and Feb. 8 everyone is encouraged to bring their Show ‘n Tell Valentine’s Day memories.
Gayla Ratzlaff, coordinator of Marion County Department on Aging, will be here Wednesday, Feb. 6, to help individuals file their Homestead and Food Sales return. To make an appointment, call the center.
Mary McFadden will be here Feb. 12 for foot care. If interested, call for an appointment.
We still need a few more volunteers. I have three Mondays in February open. If someone can help, please call the center. All meals are free the day someone volunteers.
Also, if anyone has a program they would like to present as volunteer time, we also provide lunch. Programs can be about music, travel or crafts. We like anything, so let us know.
The senior center is looking for highchairs to have on hand for our fundraiser. If anyone has one or two they could donate, please let us know.
For more information about volunteering, appointments or other center activities, call 620-947-2304.

February is off to a good start. It may be a short month, but there are a lot of activities.
Last year we made valentines for the local nursing homes and had such a wonderful time doing it that we decided to do it again this year. We will be making valentines Feb. 7 after lunch.
Come join us. For those who are super “crafty,” that’s great. But anyone who isn’t, that’s great, too.
We will start right after lunch and volunteers can work as long as they would like or until enough are made.
Anybody who may have materials left from other projects that they think would work can bring them along. We have some materials available, but any additional supplies would be great.
Gayla Ratzlaff with Marion County Department on Aging will be at the Peabody Senior Center Friday, Feb. 8, to assist anyone with special Kansas taxes—Sales Tax, LEIAP or Homestead.
Call to schedule an appointment.
Our local board meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, and those interested are encouraged to attend. This is a good place to get information on our center and stay abreast of what is going on.
The birthday dinner will be Tuesday, Feb. 12, to recognize those with February birthdays. Anyone who has a birthday in February can come celebrate it with us.
It is always a delicious oven-fried chicken dinner with all the trimmings and everyone really enjoys the meal and the time spent with friends and neighbors.
This month Randolph Whitely, family practice physician, will speak with us on Parkinson’s disease.
Ash Wednesday is Feb. 13 and we will start our annual Lent devotions after the midday meal each Wednesday throughout Lent. Pastor Jim Pohlman will speak on our first Wednesday, and we will have local pastors and laymen from the community speaking each week.
Of course we would love to have others join us for any meal. Please call the day before to reserve your place. The meal cost is $3.15 for those age 60 and above and the price is $5 to all others age 59 and under. Anyone is welcome to join us regardless of your age group.
Lunch reservations are necessary so that Kim Nellans, our cook, will have plenty of food.
Messages can be left on the center’s answering machine after hours.
For more information, to make a lunch reservation or contact Ratzlaff for an appointment, the center’s telephone number is 620-983-2226.
We look forward to seeing you at 106 S. Walnut St.
