We would like to thank everyone for supporting our center Saturday for the community breakfast.

Anyone who volunteers will get a free meal the day they volunteer.
We hope you can come and join us.

We had a number of strange looking people in here for Halloween.
Barb Bitner came as Pebbles of the Flintstones, Dorothy Conyers delivered meals as a witch, complete with big nose and big teeth, and Sue Clough came as a baseball player with her bat and ball.
Residents of Hilltop Manor joined us for Halloween.
We had a parade after singing pumpkin carols. Shirley Bowers was the accompanist.
We also celebrated National Fork Day on Oct. 25 with the history of the fork and a special song.
Bob Peterson’s birthday was Oct. 29. He provided the cake mix for Mary Hett to bake a couple of cakes for him.
Bob didn’t come in, but we ate the birthday cake anyway.
Come join us Nov. 14 when Jeremiah Lange will talk about a trip to Haiti that his parishioners took.
We will celebrate Mickey Mouse’s birthday Nov. 18. Find that sweatshirt, watch or other Mickey Mouse treasures to share.
For more information on volunteering, renting the senior center building, or making a lunch reservation, call 620-382-2942 by 9 a.m. the day of the meal. We are located at 309 S. Third St.

November came in with all the activities escalating to let us know the holidays are rapidly approaching.
We are still baking peppernuts every Monday and Thursday and could always use a few more volunteers to help with the many tasks that go with that process.
If you are available on either of these days, sign up to eat a meal with us. If you can't make meal time just stop by about 12:30 p.m. and lend a hand. We need men and women to help.
We will have a program on Friday honoring our veterans. We encourage everyone to come, especially our veterans.
Our local board meeting is Nov. 12, and the business meeting is Nov. 20.
Bingo will be Nov. 13 after lunch. We have some leftover treats from Halloween Trunk and Treat so you won't need to bring anything but yourself and be ready to yell "Bingo.”
We will be baking peppernuts on Nov. 14. The day change is because we are hosting the Marion County board meeting Nov. 16 and will need to prepare for that Thursday, the regular baking day.
We encourage everyone to sign up and come to the county board meeting. It always offers a tremendous amount of information relevant to all seniors.
Make your reservation and plan to attend because you will gain valuable knowledge from this meeting.
People might also want to sign up early for Thanksgiving brunch Nov. 21. Kim Nellans, our head cook, always fixes a delicious breakfast before the holiday.
The center will be closed Thanksgiving day and the Friday after, but we will be offering frozen meals for anyone that would like some for the time we will be closed. Please give us a call. We will deliver them before the holiday so those ordering will have them. These are very good meals that can just be thawed and heated.
Meals have a suggested price of $2.75 for those 60 and over and $4.50 for those 59 and under.
To make a meal reservation, volunteer or to ask a question, call 620-983-2226 or stop by 106 Walnut.
Our center is located at 106 S. Walnut St. We are open from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays.
For information about programs or to make a meal reservation, call 620-983-2226.
