Marion senior center

Summer is winding down and we’re winding up for September events like the senior fair in Salina, “Fest of the West,” on Sept. 18 and Marion’s own Old Settlers’ Day.

We have a class reunion scheduled to meet in our facility.

Shirley Bowers brought in a vase of digitalis to share. Another day she played, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” so we could honor the rainfall rainbow. She also plays our table grace every day and often plays other songs beforehand.

Evelyn Jewett, who heads our craft corner, received a reading, “Addicted to Quilting,” from her daughter. It was delightful.

We welcomed Hilltop Manor Aug. 29. Our program was given by Cynthia Blount, director of the Marion Historical Museum. She showed a DVD of people and parades of the past.

We have specific information about “Sweeney Todd” at the Crown Uptown Dinner Theater Sept. 20. Call if interested.

Jeff Lee, new pastor at Aulne United Methodist Church will speak Sept. 12.

For more information on renting the building, programs or to make a lunch reservation, call 620-382-2942 by 9 a.m. the day of the meal or stop by the center, 309 S. Third St.
