We hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend.
Mary Lake of Lawrence will be here May 30 to talk about her book, “Departing.”
Please come and join us for a meal and her program.
Cowboy poet and singer Roger Rider from western Kansas is here June 1 to provide us with a program.
June menus are ready to be picked up or if you like to volunteer, call or stop by to find out how.
Everyone is welcome, no matter what their age, to have lunch with us. Meals are $2.75 for 60 and older and $4.50 for people 59 and younger.
For those who would like to volunteer, they can get a free meal the day they work.
Thank you to everyone who supports our center by coming for lunch and to the volunteers, Meals on Wheels drivers, board members, kitchen staff and head cook. We make a great team.

We hope there is some interest in going to the Crown Uptown Dinner Theatre in Wichita for a matinee of “Chorus Line” in June. If interested, please call the center.
Our Walk Kansas team, the Senior Center Sensations, went across Kansas (423 miles), back across (423) miles and another third for a total of 1,024 miles.
Ann Boese celebrated her birthday with us May 17. Lucille Bitner brought treats May 21 and Joan Meyer celebrated May 23. We like birthdays.
The Area Agency on Aging is urging patrons to send a postcard to U.S. Senators Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran to reauthorize the Older American Act, which includes programs like “friendship meals.”
Amanda Gardner presented a program on her hobby of couponing to save money. She is highly organized to do this.
Shirley Bowers brought flowers for us, as she often does.
We welcomed residents of Hilltop Manor May 23.
Come join us June 6 when Gerry Henderson will sing for us.
For more information on the Crown Uptown Dinner Theatre, other programs or to make a lunch reservation, call 620-382-2942 by 9 a.m. the day of the meal or stop by the center, 309 S. Third St.

Peabody senior center
Hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and enjoyed family, friends, and all the scheduled events of the long weekend.
It’s now time to get on with the summer routines of gardening, fishing, staying cool, going to the lake and hopefully meeting your friends over lunch at the Peabody Senior Center.
We will be happy to set an extra plate for anyone who gives us a 24-hour notice they are joining us.
The center is hosting a breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. June 16, so mark your calendars. The menu will include biscuits and gravy, strawberries, bananas and coffee.
Donations for the breakfast will be accepted with all money going to help the senior center with ongoing expenses.
Our birthday meal is June 5. Be sure and reserve meals early.
If June is your birthday month, come down and celebrate it with us. If it’s not, sign up to help those with June birthdays to celebrate their special day. We always have a good time.
The June menus are now available at the center.
Call us at 620-983-2226 or come by 106 N. Walnut St., to reserve a meal, volunteer or to ask a question. We'll be watching for you.
For those planning to eat lunch with us, reservations are needed the day before. If there is no answer, please leave a message.
