Senior Scribbles (June 29, 2011)

The center would like to thank the Arlan and Brenda Penner family and all the volunteers who helped with the meal at last week’s Farmers’ Market. We sold out of food and it was a great success. The proceeds will help with expenses and repairs at the center.

The senior center would also like to thank all those who came out to support the facility.

As we get to the end of June, we have Bingo June 29 following lunch.

Friday, July 1, we have July 4 trivia and the center will be closed July 4.

July calendars are out and ready to be picked up at the center. We would also like to thank Pat Nuss for filling in as head cook. Also thanks to our senior center board members for all their support and fundraising ideas that keep the center going strong.

If anyone has any paint they would consider donating to the center, or anyone interested in helping to paint, we would be grateful. We are planning to paint the inside walls at the center.

We have several projects to tackle and help would be appreciated.

We also want to encourage everyone to join us for a meal. The cost for those ages 59 and under is $4.50 and those over age 60 is $2.75.

We would like to thank Lois Janzen and Sarita Blosser for taking over for me last week. I picked up some bug somewhere.

Hopefully it will be back to normal now and hope everyone comes to listen to Darlene Schroeder play for us in “Name that Tune” along with the birthday party June 29.

June 6 is Bingo day. Things seem to be going smooth at the center and we would like to see others there, too.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy July 4.

Again, we appreciate all of our volunteers and delivery drivers. If you would like to join our group, we would be happy to have you. Hope to see you all soon.

Peabody senior center

We are having a hamburger cook-out July 15 to help defray some of the costs at the center.

Circle that date on your calendar and watch for additional information in the weeks to come.

We encourage people to join us for a wonderful mid-day meal and good company at the Peabody Senior Center.

Persons 60 years and older can have a nutritional meal for $2.75 and those 59 and under pay only $4.50.

Meals are available Monday through Friday at the senior center if you have called in your reservation the day prior to joining us.

Meals are served at 11:45 a.m. each day.

Please call and reserve your meal at 620-983-2226 or stop by the facility at 106 Walnut St.

We have an answering machine that is checked daily if you call during a time that we are not open.
