“Name that Tune,” scheduled for June 29 with Darlene Schroeder playing the piano. It is also birthday party time and a prize will be given to the oldest man and woman that attends.
For those who have not gotten reminders about upcoming programs, please give me time to get acquainted with the community before I am comfortable making calls. I hope this is not an inconvenience to anyone.
Again, we appreciate all of our volunteers and delivery drivers. If you would like to join our group we would be happy to have you. Hope to see you all soon.

Peabody senior center
Welcome summer! We have had some really hot days, and now some really cool days, but thankfully none of the tornadoes or flooding like has been devastating some parts of our country. We are truly blessed.
The Alan Mellott family will be here June 16 to share a video of their trip to the northwest this year. It will mainly cover Wyoming and South Dakota.
It’s always fun when people share their experiences with us. Like a good book, you can almost imagine being there, too.
The Marion County board meeting is June 17 and will be in Burns this month. Anyone who would like to attend is asked to contact Judy Mellott or Nellie Schmidt and make arrangements. Everyone is encouraged to go to these informative meetings.
We will have a Wii bowling tournament June 20. This is a fun get together right after lunch and we would love to others come bowl with us. No experience necessary. We do have a good time and are always looking for additional participants.
As everywhere these days, we at the Peabody Senior Center are having to tighten our belts and make it through this "rough economy.”
Much to our dismay it has made it necessary to enforce the rule of calling in the day before you plan eat a meal with us. Please assist us in this and understand the reason that we have to make the request.
Anyone 60 years or older can eat our midday meal for $2.75, and for those 59 and below, the price is $4.50. Reservations can be made by calling the center the day before you plan to eat at 620-983-2226.
For more information about volunteering, reserving meals or other information, call 620-983-2226 and leave a message on the answering machine. Arlene or myself are at the center, 106 Walnut St., from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
