Thank you to all who attended and gave generously to our fundraiser for an automatic door opener last Friday.
The Wendy's chili and homemade pie were delicious and the Heritage quartet's music was beautiful.
Donations from that day totaled $1,065. Together with the $500 grant we received we are getting close to what we need for the automatic door opener.
Wednesday programs include March 16, Eric Reed of the Goessel police, discussing home security for Seniors on March 16; Susan Krehbiel, a local nurse practitioner, talking about diet on March 23 and Vern Goering will tell about wooden toys for tots March 30. We look forward to these programs and hope you will be able to join us for them or for any meal.
Call 620-367-2275 to make meal reservations. Office hours are 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Isn’t March a fun month, weather-wise, particularly in Kansas? Senior citizens are adaptable, which is how we survive. Sharing good food and good conversations are all part of the process.
We welcome Jackie Hett as a dining room volunteer once a week. Rhonda Brenzikofer celebrated her birthday with us March 7. Margene Dornbush was also our cook that day. It was the first day off Theresa Graham has had since becoming head cook.
Shirley Bowers brought in a sunflower wall hanging. She proceeded to sew it to cardboard to place on our easel. A new skill she claimed.
We sent two new people out to deliver meals March 8. Nate Thompson and Doug Fisher live in Hillsboro, but with two pages of diagrams, managed to deliver and return.
Barbie’s birthday was March 9. Shirley Bowers displayed Barbie, Ken, Midge and Skipper. We sang “Happy Birthday” and treats were provided.
I attended the quarterly meeting of county nutrition site managers in Goessel. We all have meals to make up when bad weather caused us to close.
Joe Pickett, St. Luke Hospital, gave a presentation on bone density tests, which determines possible osteoporosis.
Come join us March 23. Garland Shuff of Progressive Home Health and Hospice will be speaking.
Dick Varenhorst, chair of Marion’s sesquicentennial, will be at the center from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays to accept photos for the second “Marion Memories” book. Photos must be pre-1975.
For more information on programs or to make a lunch reservation, call 620-382-2942 by 9 a.m. the day of the meal or stop by the center, 309 S. Third St.
