We observed National Day of the Cowboy July 23 with a cardboard cutout of John Wayne watching.
Judy Dannenfelser loans him to us. We had people with their cowboy hats, boots and bandannas. Following lunch, we had cowboy poetry. Readers were Leonard Klassen, Ivanlee Timm, Shirley Moore, Ralph Popp, Sue Clough, Larry Blosser and Jerry Kline.
“Home On the Range” was the closing song with Shirley Bowers playing piano.
The winner of our penny jar guessing game was Connie Rock. The total in the jar was $30.79. Connie guessed $30 even. Fred Putthoff took a wild guess at $1 million.
Ralph Popp provided ice cream to celebrate his birthday July 26 and Harvey Wells brought candy bars July 27.
Hilltop Manor residents ate with us July 28, bringing our congregate meal total to 60.
Sheryl Simmons, physical therapist at St. Luke Hospital gave a presentation after lunch.
Come join us Aug. 11 when Janet Blue will be the vocalist.
