It’s the last month of the year and December calendars are ready for pick up. For those who need one mailed, let us know.

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and as we go into the next holiday, please stop by for a cup of coffee or a meal. It’s a good way to take a break from Christmas shopping. The coffee is ready at 8 a.m.

Join us at 10 a.m. Dec. 2 as we will be helping address Christmas cards for those who want or need it.

We will also be having our board meeting at 10 a.m. Dec. 7 and welcoming new board members Willie Ensz and Ruby Hilt, who will begin Jan. 1. They are replacing Ray Matz and Velma Hadley.

Following the board meeting and lunch, we will be playing Bingo. The plan is to play Bingo...

We want to thank Parkside Voices for singing at our Thanksgiving meal, everyone who supported the dinner and those who attended the center’s fundraising event Nov. 18.

The senior center will be closed Nov. 24 and 25 for the Thanksgiving holiday. We will reopen Monday, Nov. 28, which is our birthday dinner.

In addition, Bingo is Wednesday, Nov. 30, after lunch and we hope anyone who can will join us.

Volunteers are needed to help set tables and clean-up from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Those working also get a free meal the day they work.

For more information on volunteering, appointments or other center activities, call 620-947-2304 before 9 a.m. the day of the meal. We are located at 212 N. Main St.

The Thanksgiving dinner starts at noon Nov. 17 with a program by Parkside Voices. We are also sorry to say we cannot take any more reservations because we are full for that meal.

Our soup and dessert fundraiser is from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 18 and we will be serving chili, soup, cinnamon rolls and pie. The cost of the meal is by donation.

Hope everyone can come and enjoy one or more of our meals or attend a program with us.

This week as we head into November we are starting to cook for Goessel Senior Center and meals will be driven to them.

We are glad we could do this for them because the Area Agency on Aging decided that our center was closer.

Activities this week will include Eric Driggers from Greenhaw Pharmacy. He will be speaking Nov. 7 after lunch.

The center’s board meeting is at 10 a.m., also Nov. 7. Foot care is Nov. 9 with Mary McFadden of Peabody. Anyone interested in seeing her is asked to make an appointment. She will not be here in December.

I also have a signup sheet for the center’s Thanksgiving meal at noon Nov. 17. We will have Parkside Voices for the program that day. Reservations are needed by Friday...
