Haris Zafar of Wichita will be here at 11 a.m. Dec. 21 for hearing aid checks and is here the third Wednesday of each month.

Tickets are still available for the Christmas Gala fundraiser. Tickets are $100 each and includes dinner and entertainment at the Milk and Honey Bed and Breakfast.

Everyone is also invited at 10 a.m. Dec. 16 to bring presents and wrapping paper to the center and enjoy fellowship, coffee and help wrapping if needed.

We encourage everyone to stop by any time for a meal, to play games, cards or put a puzzle together.

Meals are $2.75 for those 60 and older and $4.50 for ages 59 and younger.

Senior Scribbles (Dec. 7, 2011)

Activities this week include bingo Dec. 7 after lunch and “Wear Your Christmas Hat” to the center Dec. 9. Hope to see lots of hats.

Cheri Barton, chief executive officer of Hillsboro Community Hospital, will talk at the center Dec. 13 and the Christmas Gala fundraising event is Dec. 17 at the Milk & Honey Bed and Breakfast. The cost is $100 for meal and entertainment. Everyone had a great time last year.

Meal tickets are available and can make great gifts.

The center opens at 8 a.m. and everyone is invited to enjoy a cup of coffee, sit, chat or play games, cards and more. Doors stay open until 4 p.m.

We are also wanting to update our television to better see DVDs and allow more people to watch. If...

It’s the last month of the year and December calendars are ready for pick up. For those who need one mailed, let us know.

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and as we go into the next holiday, please stop by for a cup of coffee or a meal. It’s a good way to take a break from Christmas shopping. The coffee is ready at 8 a.m.

Join us at 10 a.m. Dec. 2 as we will be helping address Christmas cards for those who want or need it.

We will also be having our board meeting at 10 a.m. Dec. 7 and welcoming new board members Willie Ensz and Ruby Hilt, who will begin Jan. 1. They are replacing Ray Matz and Velma Hadley.

Following the board meeting and lunch, we will be playing Bingo. The plan is to play Bingo...

We want to thank Parkside Voices for singing at our Thanksgiving meal, everyone who supported the dinner and those who attended the center’s fundraising event Nov. 18.

The senior center will be closed Nov. 24 and 25 for the Thanksgiving holiday. We will reopen Monday, Nov. 28, which is our birthday dinner.

In addition, Bingo is Wednesday, Nov. 30, after lunch and we hope anyone who can will join us.

Volunteers are needed to help set tables and clean-up from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Those working also get a free meal the day they work.

For more information on volunteering, appointments or other center activities, call 620-947-2304 before 9 a.m. the day of the meal. We are located at 212 N. Main St.

Haris Zafar will be at the center beginning at 11 a.m. Nov. 16 for hearing aid checks, and at 12:20 p.m. Donna Becker of Hospice will present a program.

The Thanksgiving dinner starts at noon Nov. 17 with a program by Parkside Voices. We are also sorry to say we cannot take any more reservations because we are full for that meal.

Our soup and dessert fundraiser is from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 18 and we will be serving chili, soup, cinnamon rolls and pie. The cost of the meal is by donation.

Hope everyone can come and enjoy one or more of our meals or attend a program with us.

We will be closed Nov. 24 and 25 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
