We want to thank the Marion County Senior Center board for having its meeting here last Friday.

Activities this week include Bingo after lunch Jan. 25 and on Jan. 27 is Crazy Hat Day. We are encouraging anyone to wear silly or funny hats that day.

The center’s birthday dinner is Jan. 30 and will recognize anyone who had a birthday in January.

The center’s next fundraising event is Feb. 18 at the Milk and Honey Bed &?Breakfast, 1362 E. U.S. Highway 56. The cost is $100 per person. Everyone is asked to bring someone to this Valentine’s Day dinner and, entertainment is included.

Join us during the week for a cup of coffee and fellowship or to play cards, work a puzzle or enjoy a board game.

Haris Zafar will not be here Jan. 18 as originally scheduled. He will be back Feb. 15, though.

A business meeting with the board of directors is set for 11 a.m. Jan. 18 at the center.

The Marion County Senior Center board will be here at 9 a.m. Jan. 20 and, we encourage others to attend.

The center’s next fundraising event is Feb. 18 at the Milk and Honey Bed &?Breakfast, 1362 E. U.S. Highway 56. The cost is $100 each. Everyone is asked to bring someone to this Valentine’s Day dinner. Entertainment is included.

Anyone at any age is welcome to join us for lunch.

Meals are $2.75 for those 60 and older and $4.50 for ages 59 and younger.

We welcome our new board members, Ruby Hilt and Willie Ensz, who started in 2012.

We also want to thank Ken Koslowsky for volunteering his services to the senior center for our tax papers and preparing our tax statements.

Ken does this all as a donation to the center at no charge, and we are all grateful to him.

We are looking for people to volunteer to do a concert here at the center July 4. Please let us know if you can help by calling or stopping by.

This week we are having Bingo Wednesday, Jan. 11 after lunch. Show ‘n Tell is Friday, Jan. 13 and we ask that people bring something to share.

The center is closed Monday, Jan. 16 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, but if you need a frozen dinner...

From all of us at the senior center, we hope everyone has a happy 2012. The weather was certainly nice for the holiday, too.

As we head into the new year, we will have Garvie Schmidt with the Mennonite Brethren Foundation here at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 4.

Foot care will be provided Jan. 10. Anyone interested is asked to call for an appointment.

Other events include Bingo at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 11 and “Show and Tell” Jan. 13.

The center will be closed Jan. 16 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, but for those who would like a frozen meal, please let us know ahead of time.

We are always in need of volunteers between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to help with setting the tables and cleaning up after lunch. Anyone who...

HatDay Several people took part in the Hillsboro Senior Center’s “Wear Your Favorite Christmas/Winter Hat” on Friday, Dec. 16. We had a lot of fun at our Christmas dinner and singalong with music by Ann Shepherd.

As we finish out December and start a new year, Bingo is planned Wednesday, Dec. 28 after lunch.

The center will be closed Jan. 2 for the New Year holiday.

Lavina Schroeder of Goessel is here Jan. 3 to show us some of the craft items she makes.

Garvie Schmidt with the Mennonite Brethren Foundation will offer a presentation at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 4.

From the senior center staff, we hope everyone has a happy New Year and many blessings in 2012.

We are still needing volunteers to help from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and those who help will receive a free lunch that day.
