HILLSBORO SENIOR CENTER
August menus are done and ready to be picked up.
We are having a booth at the Marion County Fair this week to promote our senior center.
Please stop by and see us. We will have lunch menus and a drawing to win a meal ticket to use at the center.
Bingo is July 22 and the center?s birthday dinner is July 27.
Our ice cream social is from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7.
In addition to ice cream, we are serving sloppy joes, chips and pie for $7. Music for the event is being provided by Bob Delk & The Boys.
We are in need of volunteers from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., and also substitute Meals on Wheels driver.
If someone can help, let us know. Anyone who helps will get their meal free the day of service. Those who can do one or more days a month as a Meals on Wheels driver will be helpful. The route isn?t too big.
We hope we can get more help, and we are grateful for the volunteers we already have.
For more information on these things, call 620-947-2304 or stop by 212 N. Main St. between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.
We have great fellowship. Hope to see you soon.

MARION SENOR CENTER
We?ve been doing vacation trivia before lunch. It?s amazing to see that every person here knows something, if only the right question is asked.
John Kline brought treats for us on his July 10 birthday.
We would welcome any produce or vases of flowers anyone would like to share.
How about decorating placemats for us?
We use paper towels daily for that purpose, but creative construction paper mats would be fun.
Senior Center Day was July 15. Gayla Ratzlaff talked about the proposed Westar increase in customer service charges and how to respond.
We have information sheets. Comments need to be made by Aug. 11.
Brandi McCarty and Jamie Shirley from Marion County Emergency Management Services gave a presentation and left pertinent information.
Sue Clough then conducted the monthly business meeting.
We will observe on July 24 National Day of the Cowboy.
Come join us July 29. Gail Boaldin, St. Luke Hospital will talk about recent technological upgrades.
For more information or to make a reservation, call 620-382-2942, or stop by 309 S. Third St., Marion.

PEABODY SENIOR CENTER
Summer has arrived in Kansas, but you won’t hear me complaining because too soon the snow will be flying and the cold will be back.
We have already passed the halfway mark of 2015.
The August menus are out and available at the senior center. Please come by and pick up your copy.
We are located at 106 N. Walnut or call us at 620-983-2226 to make you reservations for our midday meal.
Our prices increase this summer to a suggested donation of $3.50 for those 60 and older, and $5.25 for all others.
Fortunately we have not been negatively impacted by this increase. People have been aware that the increase was necessary, but said they believe the meals are a great value.
In addition to dine-in services, we also have home delivery and pick-up services available at 10:45 a.m. or noon. We try to be available as much as possible. Give us a try.
Don?t forget our monthly brunch at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 31. We are having biscuits with sausage gravy, blueberry muffin, fresh fruit, grape juice and milk. Call in your reservations.
Hope you are having a great summer and you make time to come down to eat with us or have a cup of coffee or a glass of iced tea.
