• ELAINE J. CARGILL, 76,
died Feb. 4, in Mission Viejo, Calif.
The memorial service was Feb. 10 at O’Connor Mortuary and Chapel in Laguna Hills, Calif.
She was born Sept. 20, 1936, in Madrid, Neb., to Harold and Hulda (Wall) Flaming.
In August 1963 she was married to Boyd Cargill, who survives.
She also is survived by a daughter, Carolyn and husband Randy Brazil of Hillsboro, and four grandchildren.
• lois ediger, 86,
a retired breakfast cook for Tabor College, died Feb. 9 at Salem Home in Hillsboro.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church, 300 Prairie Pointe, with pastor Brian Allen officiating. A private family burial is planned.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Jost Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington, Hillsboro.
She was born Oct. 17, 1926, to Jacob and Elizabeth (Klaassen) Voth at Bingham Lake, Minn. On Dec. 23, 1946, she was married to Joel Ediger, who predeceased her in 2004.
Survivors include sons Larry J. and Nancy K. Ediger of Olathe and Gerald Ediger, Lyle and Rhonda Ediger and Allen R. and Robin, all of Hillsboro; sister Helen Vogel of Inman; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

former cook at Lost Springs?School and Centre High School, died Feb. 9 at Manhattan.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen. Rosary will precede the service at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at Pilsen Cemetery.
Visitation is from noon until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.
She was born Feb. 13, 1930, to John and Antoniette Oborny Huna at Marion. On Sept. 1, 1953, she was married to Sylvin Holub, who predeceased her in 2003.
Survivors include sons Gary of Leawood, Rod of Manhattan and John of Hays; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

a medical doctor of Bel Aire, died Feb. 4 at her home.
The funeral was at 10 a.m., Feb. 9 at Sunrise Christian Academy, 5500 E. 45th St. N., Bel Aire.
A private burial was at Grant Township Cemetery in Marion.
She was born May 18, 1949, to Harold and Jessie (Higgins) Bowers in Marion.
Survivors include children Caleb and wife Andrea of Bel Aire, David Johnson of Woodward, Okla., and Rebekah Johnson of Bel Aire; siblings Vernon Bowers and Gene Bowers, both of Marion, Kenneth Bowers of St. Louis, Mo., Norman Bowers of Olathe and Janice Bowers of Wakarusa.

• dorothy (bates) shields, 80,
retired from Santa Fe Railroad and Steffens Dairy, died Feb 3.
The funeral service was at 1 p.m. Feb. 7 at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary in Wichita. Burial was at Lincolnville Cemetery.
She was born Aug. 8, 1932, to Frank and Gertrude Bates at Alton. Her husband, Tom Shields, predeceased her.
Survivors include sister Joan and Robert Sims; step-son Tommy; step-daughter Laura and many nieces and nephews.
