• Earlene Hague, 84,
former school board clerk and secretary to USD 408 superintendent and formerly of Marion, died Aug. 2 at Newton Medical Center.
The funeral service is 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Valley United Methodist Church in Marion. Burial will be in Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
Visitation was 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion.
She was born April 19, 1928, to Edward and Mildred (Beeton) Nicklaus at Haven. On June 16, 1946, she was married to Willard Hague, who predeceased her.
She is survived by children Don and wife Beverly of Gering, Neb., Dennis and wife Susan of Cedar Point, Roxanne and husband Conlee Mann of Livonia, Mich., and Douglas and wife Kimberly of Benton; siblings Edward and wife Rosalyn Nicklaus of Garden City and Delores and husband Robert Haag of Topeka; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been established for Marion High School Alumni Scholarship Fund, in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm, Marion, KS, 66861.
• Herb Jackson, 81,
a military veteran and retired teacher and pastor, died Aug. 3 at Peabody Care Center.
A graveside service is planned for Aug. 11 at Marion Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 229 Walnut St., Marion.
He was born April 25, 1931, in Hattesburg, Miss. On Dec. 22, 1978, he was married to Joyce Tucker, who survives.
Other survivors include stepsons Ralph and Robin Tucker of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Bill and Karin Tucker of Neosho, Mo., stepdaughter-in-law Pam Tucker of Kansas City, Mo., brother Bradford of Webster, Texas, 11 step-grandchildren and seven great-step-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church and Marion Senior Center, and sent in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St., Marion, KS 66861.
• Richard B. “Dick” Morris, 76,
oil field owner/operator, of Hillsboro and formerly of Canton, died Aug. 5 at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro.
The funeral service is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Canton Christian Church, 111 N. Fifth St. Burial was at Canton Township Cemetery.
He was born Oct. 15, 1935, in Sumner County to Warren and Eunice (Bruce) Morris. On Oct. 27, 1960, he was married to Naomi Sue Weaver, who survives.
Other survivors include daughter Paula L. and Steve Gann of Beggs, Okla., brother Ronald “Butch” Morris of Oxford, sister Peggy “Dot” Hockenbury of Lawrence, son-in-law Ty Johnson of Hillsboro, five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Memorials have been established with Canton Christian Church, Canton Fire Department and Families and Communities Together Inc. (FACT), in care of Olson’s Mortuary, 139 N. Marion, P.O. Box 355, Canton, KS 67428.
• OLIVER UNRUH, 88,
retired Santa Fe Railroad worker, died July 31 at Salem Home in Hillsboro.
The service was Aug. 4 at Durham Baptist Church with pastor Curtis Wiens officiating. The family gathered for a private burial.
He was born July 12, 1924, to Henry A. and Eva (Schmidt) Loewen in rural Durham. On Oct. 29, 1914, he was married to Frances Frick, who survives.
Other survivors include daughter Beverly Elliott of Hillsboro; brother Leslie Unruh of Upland, Calif.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
