• PHILIP GEORGE BOWEN, 58,
of Peabody, employed with the Marion County Road & Bridge Department, died Jan. 7 at Peabody.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Peabody Christian Church, 403 N. Sycamore St., Peabody, with Pastor Jim Pohlman officiating.
He was born June 23, 1953, to Robert and Esther (Liggett) Bowen in Hillsboro. On Dec. 4, 1992, he was married to Connie Sue Weiser, who survives.
Other survivors include his mother of Goessel; sons Michael Bowen of Wichita and Michael Calhoun of Marion; daughters Michelle Ernzen of Fall City, Neb., and Rachael Mosqueda of Newton; brothers Granville Bowen of Alamogordo, N.M., and Dan Bowen of West Chester, Ohio; sisters Gertrude Malm of Goessel, Mary Lou Cogdill of Marion, Liz Johnson of Cedar Point and Nancy Shanklin of Florence; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

• ANNA E. BUSENITZ, 89,
a homemaker, died Jan. 4 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
Services were Jan. 7 at Newton Bible Church with pastor Matthew Kruse officiating.
Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
She was born Feb. 13, 1922, to Herman and Anna (Harder) Entz in Newton. On Aug. 2, 1946, she was married to Karl Busenitz, who predeceased her May 30, 1995.
Survivors include children Roger and Patty Busenitz of Newton, Annora and Charles Goering of Marion, Eldrid and Faith Busenitz of Newton, Loreta and Gerald Seibel of Kechi, Darlene Busenitz of Newton, Ron and Brylene Busenitz of El Dorado and Gordon and Rachel Busenitz of Newton; sister-in-laws Arlene Entz of Peabody and Olga Busenitz of Newton; 30 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

• NORMAN DALE COE, 55,
a maintenance worker at Florence Nursing Home, died Dec. 22 at Wichita.
Services were Dec. 28 at Carriage Manor, 124 E.Ninth St., Florence.
He was born Dec. 18, 1956, to Bob D. and Nona M. (Hall) Coe in Medicine Lodge. On July 4, 1995, he was married to Charlene Lawrence, who survives.
Other survivors include son Norman Dale Coe Jr. of Marion; daughters Naoma Marie Coe of Newton and Debra Kay Coe of Marion; step-daughters Cristina Wood of Colwich and Jennifer Swanson of Florence; brothers Bobby Coe of Wichita and David Coe of Hamilton and two grandchildren.

• LUETTA JUNE (SCHMIDT) FREY, 82,
of Goessel, a homemaker and nurse aide, died Dec. 30 at Kidron Bethel Health Care in North Newton.
Services were Jan. 7 at Tabor Mennonite Church, 891 N. Chisholm Trail, Newton, with pastor Karen Andres officiating. Burial was at Tabor Mennonite Cemetery.
She was born June 23, 1929, to Abraham and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Schmidt in Goessel. On May 19, 1949, she was married to Raymond E. Frey, who predeceased her Nov. 17, 2007.
Survivors include daughters Marcene and Thurman Entz of rural Newton and Melissa and Jim Beitler of Berne, Ind.; son Sherwin and Debra (Fischer) Frey of Los Angeles, Calif.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters Emma Reimer of Loveland, Colo., Nola Koehn of Newton and Viola Ratzlaff of Goessel and many nieces and nephews.

• IRVEN L. CONNER JR., 81,
of Newton, a retired tool grinder at Hesston Corp., died Jan. 4 at Newton Medical Center.
A graveside service was Jan. 10 at Canton Township Cemetery.
He was born July 21, 1930, to Irven L. Sr. and Edna Catherine (Miller) Conner in Louisville, Ky. On Sept. 20, 1952, he was married to Shirley Ann Hardin, who predeceased him July 2, 2000.
Survivors include sons Irven L. III and Terri Conner of McPherson and Mark and Debbie Conner of Hillsboro; daughter Sandra Heim and companion Rick Heim of McPherson; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

• MILDRED LUCAS, 86,
died Monday, Jan. 2, at Presbyterian Manor in Kansas City, Kan.
Services were Jan. 6 at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.
She is survived by her husband, Clifford of Kansas City, son Cliff of Peabody, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
• ALVIN J. SCHROEDER, 93,
of Buhler, died Jan. 4 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.
Services were Jan. 7, at the Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church with pastor Nick Rempel officiating. Burial was at Buhler Cemetery, Buhler.
He was born Sept. 11, 1918, to Henry H. and Margaretha Neufeldt Schroder in Harvey County. On July 30, 1941, he was married to Neva L. Suderman, who predeceased him on March 27, 1992. On April 3, 1994, he was married to Hilda A. Stucky of Buhler, who survives.
Other survivors include children Arlene and Gene Becker of Hutchinson, Dennis and Crystal Schroeder of Inman and Janet and Jay Reimer of Houston, Texas; stepsons Larry and Jean Penner of Inman and LaVern and Pat Penner of Buhler; brother Irvin Schroeder of Buhler; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 12 step-great grandchildren and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
