• RUBY A. BARKMAN, 82,

of Newton, a home loan officer, died Dec. 6 at Pine Village in Moundridge.

Services were Dec. 13 at the Moundridge Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation with family was held prior to the service. Burial was at Halstead Cemetery.

She was born July 7, 1929, to Jacob H. and Lydia Esau Barkman at Lehigh.

Survivors include sister Dorothy Roberts of Moundridge; five nieces and one nephew.

Memorials may be made to Pine Village or the Caring Hands Humane Society and sent in care of Moundridge Funeral Home, 115 W. Cole St., Moundridge, KS 67107-8830. • KURTIS TATE BOWMAN, 40, Hillsboro High School assistant and Hillsboro Middle School wrestling coach, died Dec. 8 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.

Services were Dec. 13 at the H.W. Lohrenz Building Chapel on Tabor College Campus, Hillsboro, with Del Gray officiating. Burial was Dec. 14 at the Cora-Cedar Hill Cemetery in rural Bellaire.

He was born April 5, 1971, to Jay and Connie (McGuire) Bowman in Oakley. In 1999, he was married to Jessica Hyman, who survives.

Other survivors include his mother; brother Steven and Connie Sue Bowman of Whitewater; mother-in-law Rhonda Hyman of Smith Center; one niece; aunts Vae Jene and Don Herron of Lawrence and Robyn and Daryl DePeel of Windom; uncle Chuck McGuire of Springfield, Mo., and numerous cousins.

Memorials may be made to the Kurt Bowman Memorial Scholarship and sent in care of Simmons-Rentschler Mortuary, 116 W. First St., Smith Center.

• FRIEDA FLAMING, 88,

retired certified medication aide, died Dec. 2 at Bethesda Home in Goessel.

A memorial service was Dec. 9 at Alexanderwohl with pastors Linda Ewert and Steve Schmidt officiating. Burial was at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church Cemetery in rural Goessel.

She was born May 6, 1923, to David L. and Lena (Schmidt) Schmidt in Goessel. On March 16, 1945, she was married to Theodore (Ted) B. Flaming, who predeceased her April 5, 1995.

Survivors include daughter Dorene and Gene Claassen of Marlin, Wash.; son Clyde and Deborah Gafvert of Wichita; son Dwight J. and Marilyn Flaming of Goessel; five grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Bethesda Home and sent in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, 303 E. Main, Goessel, KS 67053.

• ELLA A. JANZEN, 88,

a homemaker and sales associate, died Dec. 5 at Pine Village in Moundridge.

Services were Dec. 9 at Moundridge United Methodist Church. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 1, 1923, to William and Mary (Scheffler) Stahl in Newton. On Sept. 9, 1945, she was married to Allen Janzen, who predeceased her.

Survivors include daughter Delores and Larry Morgan of Hesston; daughter-in-law Laura Janzen of Moundridge; brother Carl Stahl of Newton; sisters Clara Ortman and Alice Schmidt, both of Moundridge; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Pine Village or the Moundridge United Methodist Church and sent in care of Moundridge Funeral Home, 115 W. Cole St., Moundridge, KS 67107-8830, also in charge of arrangements.

• WILLIAM V. (BILL) KRAUSE, 88,

longtime former Peabody newspaper publisher, died Dec. 6, in Peabody.

Services were Dec. 10 at Peabody United Methodist Church. Burial was at Chester, Neb.

On Aug. 11, 1946, he was married to Shirley B. Huckins, who survives.

Other survivors include daughters Koni Jones of Wichita and Denise Krause of Jackson, Miss.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother Gayle and Kaye Krause of El Dorado and several nieces and nephews.
