• alvin boese, 94,
a dairy and grain farmer, died May 1 at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro.
A graveside and memorial service was May 6 at Alexanderwohl Cemetery and Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church.
He was born April 29, 1917, to Abraham L. and Maria Schroeder Boese in Goessel. On Sept. 9, 1946, he was married to Audrey Unruh, who predeceased him on March 20, 2011.
Survivors include children Alan and Sharon Boese of Lehigh, Anita Boese of Hillsboro, Ama and Murray Reimer of Hutchinson, Aileen and David Esau of Hillsboro; brother Ralph and Viola of Spokane, Wash.; sister Rosella and Harold Duerksen of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

• Leonard f. klassen, 84,
a dairyman and farmer from Marion, died May 7 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, 105 Eastmoor Drive, Marion. Burial will be at Springfield Cemetery, west of Hillsboro.
Visitation is from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 11 at Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St., Marion, with family present from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
He was born to David S. and Anna (Friesen) Klassen in Lehigh. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie, in 2005.
Survivors include daughters Vickie and Marvin Fisher of Wichita and Cora and Don Sorenson of McPherson; siblings Bernice and Don Friend of North Newton, Elmer Klassen of Newton and Doris and Ken Shultz of Wichita; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is at 11 a.m. May 14 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lincolnville, with pastor Alan Stahlecker officiating. A prayer service is at 9 a.m. May 14 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 404 S. Broadway, Herington. Burial will follow at Lincolnville Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. May 13 at the funeral home.
She was born Jan. 10, 1920, to Henry H. and Clara L. Weber Pagenkopf, in Lincolnville. On June 4, 1960, she was married to Albert P. Levy, who predeceased her Feb. 28, 1988.
Survivors include brother Roy and Jo Ann Pagenkopf; three nephews; two nieces; eight great-nephews and four great-nieces.

• William john schimpf, 60,
a federal meat inspector, died April 27 at his home in Marion.
Services were Saturday at the Marion Cemetery with Father John Baize officiating.
He was born Nov. 23, 1950, to William Sr. and Pauline Gertrude Spachek Schimpf in Marion.
Survivors include sisters Cheryl Witt of Mt. Vernon, Ky., and Mary Jones of Hiawatha; nephew William Witt; nieces Cindy Ham and Pamela Scott; a great-nephew and two great-nieces.

• Elsa wiens, 79,
registered nurse, died April 26 in Hillsboro.
Services will be at 11 a.m. May 14 at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church, 300 Prairie Pointe, with pastor Loyal Martin officiating.
She was born May 18, 1931, to Adolph and Ida (Lehnherr) Haeni in Marshfield, Wis. On Oct. 28, 1955, she was married to Donald E. Wiens, who predeceased her.
Survivors include brothers William and Darlene Haeni and Fritz and Adeline Haeni, all of Marshfield; sisters Maria Warren of Monroe, Wis., and Anna and Don R. Tyler of Tucson, Ariz.; brother-in-law Ernest E. and Esther Wiens and Emerson and La Wanda Wiens; sister-in-laws Alice and Jonathan Bartel and Doris and Herb Guhr and many relatives and friends.
