• Rodney lee maxwell, 54,
a farmer, rancher and retired postal carrier of Cedar Point, died Dec. 3 in Newton.
Services were held Dec. 7 at Flint Hills Community Church, Cottonwood Falls and Admire Methodist Church in Admire.
He was born to Don and Shirley Maxwell in Emporia.
Survivors include wife Rebecca; son Ryan Maxwell of Emporia; daughter Sherri Maxwell of Tulsa, Okla.; step-daughter Liza Jeffers of Cedar Point; step-son Patrick Morgan of Wichita; three grandchildren; brother Terry and Tina Maxwell of Evans, Colo.; sister Joyce and Jeff Eckelberry of Alma; three nephews and three nieces.
Memorials may be made to the Traumatic Brain Injury Support Group of Manhattan, Flint Hills Community Church and/or the American Diabetes Association for Diabetic Children’s Camp. • Michael Dale Ragland, 58,
of Marion, a truck driver, died Nov. 30.
A celebration of his life will be from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11.
A funeral and graveside service was held Dec. 4 at Dickson, Tenn.
He was born Aug. 20, 1952, to Marshall and Mary Jean Clymer Ragland in Nashville, Tenn. On Dec. 6, 1991, he was married to Cindy Bridges Ragland, who survives.
Other survivors include children Michael and Jeannie Ragland and Misty Ragland, all of Nashville, Marshall Ragland and Mitchell Ragland, both of Marion; brothers Steven and Penny Ragland of Nashville, David Ragland of Charlotte, Tenn., Randall and Glenda Ragland and Daryl Ragland, all of Kingston, Tenn., and grandson Noah Ragland of Knoxville.
Memorials may be made to an education fund established for Marshall and Mitchell Ragland and sent in care of Central National Bank, 231 E. Main St., Marion, KS 66861-1627.
• Wanda kaye backhus schmidt, 53,
formerly of Tampa, died Nov. 30 at Fort Worth, Texas.
Services were Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 102 W. Fifth St., Tampa. Burial was at Tampa Lutheran Cemetery.
She was born Jan. 14, 1957, to Wilbert and Donna Klein Backhus in Abilene.
Survivors include son Joseph of Chicago, Ill.; daughter Amy Schmidt of Fort Worth; sister Tina Clement of Tampa and her parents.
