Lisa D. Ragsdale, 44, of Shawnee, died Jan. 6 at the University of Kansas Hospital.

Memorial services will be 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11 at Shawnee Presbyterian Church, 6837 Nieman Road, Shawnee, KS. Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. prior to the service.

She was born Feb. 4, 1963, to Rex and Margaret Wilson in Pratt.

She is survived by her husband, Brent P. Ragsdale and four children, Blaine, Logan, Jeremy and Vivian, all of the home; her parents of Marion; a brother, Kevin and Janet Wilson of Bentonville, Ark.; a foster brother, Kevin and Loraine McGahee of Shawnee; and maternal grandmother, Florence Macy of Marion.

In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established with Families Thru International...

Cecelia Allen, 64

Cecelia Irene Allen, 64, of Marion, former Stone City Cafe employee, died Dec. 24 at Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita.

The funeral was Dec. 31 at the Marion Christian Church. She was buried at Marion Cemetery.

She was born Jan. 13, 1943, to Delmer and Ida Earline Kelsey Allen in Marion.

She is survived by a sister, Robin and Ron Long of Rose Hill; aunts, uncles, cousins, a niece and two nephews.

Ralph C. Christiansen, 88, of Gypsum, farmer and stockman, died Dec. 30.

Former Hillsboro pastor Marvin Hein dies at age 82

Marvin Hein was born to David and Marie Suderman Hein on Easter Sunday, April 12, 1925, on a farm near Fairview, Okla. He died in Fresno on Jan. 5 at the age of 82.

He attended Fairview elementary and high schools. After serving nearly three years during World War II in Civilian Public Service (an alternative to the military), he married Mary Helen Martens on Sept. 1, 1946. They moved to Hillsboro, where Hein earned his bachelor’s degree at Tabor College.

After college graduation they headed two mental hospital voluntary service projects in Larned, Kan., and Ukiah, Calif. Hein earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in theology at Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Kan., and pastored the Madura Congregational...

Kathryn Barr, 95

 

Mary Kathryn Butterworth Barr, 95, church planter and Sunday school teacher, died Dec. 24 in Hillsboro.

The funeral was Dec. 29 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Baxter Springs. Burial was at Hillcrest Cemetery in Galena.

She was born Nov. 15, 1912, to Henry and Gertie Rae Butter­worth in Quapaw, Okla. On Jan. 27, 1941, she was married to James Glenn Barr, who predeceased her in 1985.

She is survived by two sons, James M. Barr of San Diego, Calif., and Donald L. and Johanna Barr of Jasper, Ark.; two daughters, Glenna and B.J. Garber of Carthage, Mo., and Martha and Steven Krispense of Marion; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Francis Cook, 92

Francis Lemmer Cook, 92, retired teacher and Marine Corps veteran, died Dec. 18 at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winf­ield.

The funeral was Dec. 20 at Florence United Methodist Church. He was buried at Hillcrest Cemetery in Florence.

He was born March 27, 1915, to George Andrew and Lillie Ann Cook in Deaf Smith County near Hereford, Texas. On Jan. 3, 1946, he was married to Otillia (Tillie) Sevcik.

He is survived by a son, Robert Allan Cook of Hutchin­son; and two granddaughters.
