OBITSchmidt • ellen e. darrow, 93,

co-owner and bookkeeper of Aulne Grain, died Nov. 12 at her home in Marion.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Aulne United Methodist Church, 140th and Pawnee, rural Marion.

Visitation with family is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St., Marion. Burial will be at Marion Cemetery.

She was born Dec. 15, 1918, to John and Rena (Conyers) Hett near Marion. On Jan. 1, 1942, she was married to Lloyd L. Darrow, who predeceased her.

Survivors include sons Jim and Kaye and Bill and Debbi, all of Marion; brother Jim and Carol Hett of Marion; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and sisters-in-laws Jackie Hett and Betty Darrow Mull.

DEATH Brandt • michael a. baker, 55,

of Overland Park, died Oct. 31.

He was born Aug. 2, 1957, to Arnold and Rita Baker in Dubuque, Iowa. He was married to Kathryn Bowring.

Survivors include son Kristoffer and Stacy Baker; step- daughters Whitney Washmon Darcy and Debra Flores and William McCauley; seven grandchildren; sister Andrea and Steve Bucini; two nieces and three grandnephews.

a farmer and stockman, died Oct. 28 at his home in Lincolnville.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at St. John’s Catholic Church, 712 N. Broad­way, Herington.

Visitation is at 6 p.m. Nov. 1 with Rosary following, also at the church. Burial will be at Pilsen Cemetery.

He was born Nov. 23, 1950, to Frank and Lillian Moravec Bina in Hillsboro. On Feb. 14, 1976, he was married to Jeanette M. Giles, who survives.

Other survivors include children Rebecca Bina of Leon, Byron and wife Sarah Bina of Elmo, and Dustin Bina of Lin­colnville; siblings Margaret and husband Richard Klenda and Leonard and wife Sharon Bina all of Lincolnville and two grandchildren.

homemaker and volunteer, died Oct. 17 at Newton Medical Center.

The memorial service was Oct. 21, at Goessel Mennonite Church with pastor Robert Yutzy officiating. A private burial was at Goessel Mennonite Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 13, 1926, to Menno and Edna Epp Dirksen at Moundridge. On Sept. 4, 1947, she was married to Otto Bartel, who predeceased her in 2004.

Survivors include three daughters, Carol and husband Ron Hartzler of Wichita, Bev and husband Roger Claassen of Plymouth, Neb., and Jolene Dirksen of Newton; a brother, Larry and wife Marybeth Dirksen of Anaheim, Calif.; sister-in-law Francis Dirksen of Marion; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

former employee of French’s, died Oct. 2 at her home in Marshfield, Mo.

Services were at 2 p.m. Oct. 6 in Marshfield.

She was born Oct. 30, 1958, to Jackson and Alene Letterman.

Survivors include son Corey Buttram; daughter Rachel and Darrin Dvorak of Marion; three grandchildren and many other relatives.

a cook, died Oct. 9 at Peabody Care Center.

A graveside service was at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 13, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Florence with pastor Larry Timm officiating.

He was born April 28, 1947, to Theodore and Lillian Maltbie Ellis in San Antonio, Texas.
